MA (Mus Perf), BA (Mus), LTCL, LRSM
A trombone player by trade I enjoyed an extensive musical career in the Army and was selected for the Bandmaster course at the Royal Military School of Music. Following a highly successful career I decided to use my passion to develop the musical life of young people through education and gained a position as Head of Performing Arts. I decided to step away from full time education to take my studies to the next level and have recently completed an MA in Music Performance degree at the University of Salford gaining a Distinction. Having played in and conducted brass bands for 40 years my recent banding experience follows intensive tuition at Salford University and I have played with Black Dyke, Leyland and Brighouse & Rastrick bands, as well as appearances with the world renowned Black Dyke Trombone Quartet. Contest appearances include the British Open with Milnrow and my present band Hammonds where I also won the Grand Shield 2018 playing Solo Trombone which has included being the featured soloist for the band's appearance at the 2018 Brass in Concert. I was fortunate to gain the appointment as professional conductor of Bournemouth Concert Brass and enjoyed success qualification in the 1st section at the West of England areas as well as podium results in the Championship section at Southern Counties and Wessex Band association contests. Other notable performances as conductor include the Milnrow Band in their championship section performance at the Brass at the Guild contest achieving 2nd place, as well as areas success with Poole Borough Band. I am excited to be working with AoBBA to develop my experience of adjudication to the higher echelons of banding
